Create a selected-take sheet
A useful selected-take sheet is terse, current, and honest about what it does not verify.
Include exact operational fields
Show cue code, speaker label, take ordinal, expected filename, and whether the take references the current script revision. Keep optional script text only when the recipient is authorized.
Separate selection from acceptance
Selected means the project currently points to that take. It does not prove the performance was approved, the file contains it, or the recipient accepted delivery.
Pair the sheet with a manifest
Run the local folder preflight and freeze a delivery manifest so the readable sheet and machine-readable metadata describe the same selection set.
Worked example
A sheet generated from the sample would list one hundred rows, and four of them would be honest about a problem: C017 selected against a superseded revision, C042 awaiting a pickup response, C055 required with no current selection, and C090 carrying a reserved filename. The remaining ninety-six would show cue code, speaker label, take ordinal, expected filename such as orchard_s02_c045_t02.wav, and confirmation that the take references the current revision.
A sheet that hid those four rows would look better and be worth less. The point of the sheet is that a producer can see the state of the delivery, including the parts that are not ready.
Method
The sheet shows the operational fields a recipient can act on: cue code, speaker label, take ordinal, expected filename, and whether the take references the current cue revision. Optional script text is included only when the recipient is authorized to hold it, because a selected-take sheet is often shared more widely than the script itself.
Pair the readable sheet with a frozen delivery manifest so that the human-readable document and the machine-readable metadata describe exactly the same selection set.
What this does not do
- Selected means the project currently points at that take. It is not approval.
- The sheet does not prove the file contains the take it names.
- It does not prove the recipient received or accepted anything.
Do this in the app
Generate the sheet and the manifest from the same freeze.
- Resolve or explicitly hold every finding first.
- Open station 08 Delivery, freeze the record, and export the sheet alongside the manifest.
- Send the sheet through your own channel and confirm receipt separately.
